You may also notice the M1918 Trenchknife which got a few looks, especially when I accidentally left it on my leg and went for a wander around the stalls! An off duty Police man was very impressed haha

Shouldnt be an issue anyway as you're clearly doing re-enacting and have a good cause to be carrying it... if you forgot about it and went off site to go to the local take away that would probably be another kettle of fish :)

Alex , if you're not already signed up wit AFRA you really should do as it provides you with a card that explains to the police that while taking part in re-enactment duties you may be in possesion of pyro, knives and imitation or blank firearms and has a handy number should anyone get jumpy about it or detain you.... add to that obviously you're insured should anyone get hurt while that knife is being tossed to a mate etc...

edited to correct the worst of my dodgy spelling :)

I think Alex/Nigel's point was that it was an impressive looking rubber knife but I could be wrong!
(although, regardless of whether knives/guns are real or not, common sense says display/use in public places should be appropriate and in context of course)

I'd check the small print on that. I'm pretty sure that an insurer would have something to say about liability if you stabbed someone by throwing a knife at them, even if it was accidental!

Just to clarify, I threw a rubber knife gently, 3 feet to Nigel, who was well prepared to catch the RUBBER knife and then back again.

I think Alex/Nigel's point was that it was an impressive looking rubber knife but I could be wrong!

Yes that was the point and yes it was appropriate and in context.

I'd check the small print on that. I'm pretty sure that an insurer would have something to say about liability if you stabbed someone by throwing a knife at them, even if it was accidental!

I would imagine I'd find it incredibly hard to stab anyone with one of the fieldwerks trenchknives...it was a struggle to keep it in a straight line when holding it horizontally it's so bendy.

Nevertheless, duly noted, someone PM mewith details of who to talk to about AFRA Membership?

Took my BAR out for a spin on the weekend at a new North East Scotland site. Replaced the Ranger tabs with the Big Red One patch (I need para boots, not gaiters for a accurate 2nd Rangers impression) Going for a late Normandy Campaign look, Operation Cobra probably.

Wearing the jacket over the webbing this time, noticed a fair soldiers doing it in the newsreels and photos. Very comfortable, and actually handy for the heat, you can take off the jacket when you are getting a bit sweaty and not have to worry about removing your harness!

Very nice indeed, maybe a little bit of a gear overkill. And i am not sure if you assembled the pack correctly?

And typically enough..after spending an evening resewing my Polar Bears so they face the right way....no pictures that show them as of yet gah

The photo you posted shows the one on your right arm the correct way round :good: I actually looked at it and checked when I saw the photo, knowing that you had a bit of a mix-up with them, before even reading this comment!

@Glenlivet45

Set backpack were mounted correctly

I used Suspender Y USMC
backpack
Not everything together
I mounted differently as shown ATF
Supender + Backpack
Too much gear?
Look

Attached Bar belt there are two water bottles, first aid kit Jungle, Firs aid kit, pocket 3xGranata end.

Many riflemen with bar
utilized Wincheter 1897.

In action, remove the backpack and use only and Suspender Belt!

Hi mitrano,

Please do not get me wrong. Your impression is nice, i just want to give you some constructive criticism based
on my opinion. IMHO it is a bit too much gear, sure there is the famous picture you posted, there are others with
lots of gear. But the majority of photos show way way less, especially after a few days in the field. I guess
in the end it is an exception/norm thing.

In action, remove the backpack and use only and Suspender Belt!

We can agree on that :D

I am also not sure if your combination of gear is correct. The Jungle first aid kit was introduced quite late in the
war, it would be very rare for a Marine to still wear a complete set of camouflage utilities by this time. Same goes
for the grenade pouch and to some extend for this type of e-tool cover as well.

You should carry the knife on your belt, wearing it on the chest is "NAM" style 8)

The pack is certainly not assembled in textbook style, personally i would change this. Here is some shameless self
promotion of my blog: http://m1pencil.wordpress.com/
check under "Reenactment / Guides" for the "USMC M1941 Pack Configuration Guide"

And you definitely need a helmet cover :good:

Again please do not take what i wrote in a bad way, i just wanted to help you to make your cool impression even better.

Ciao!

..and just for fun:

I understand that camo uniform was used in 43, end war P41 or P44 with 3x grenades and Jungle Pocket kit.
My Marines are using old uniform on Okinawa AHAH LOL

the mix;)
I Have The camo cover, not mounted!
